Education & Public Schools
David is fighting to make sure our teachers, staff and students have the resources they need to succeed. He helped pass a $300 million education package to address the staffing crisis in Oregon’s schools, create summer learning opportunities, and address education disparities among classrooms. David also sponsored a bill to support school districts affected by the 2020 wildfires, and helped secure $100 million to expand access to childcare and rebuild the childcare workforce so more families can get back to work and make ends meet.
Affordable Housing
In the 2021 legislative session, David sponsored legislation and acquired $1 million for Lincoln County to create a pilot program and help communities develop a coordinated response to homelessness. He also secured $6.5 million for local housing projects and supported measures to help youth experiencing homelessness by creating a coordinated and regional response to this crisis. David will continue supporting measures that reduce barriers to homeownership and keep Oregonians in homes they can afford.
Health Care
Rep. Gomberg is working to address Oregon’s health care infrastructure by supporting Oregon nurses experiencing burnout and investing $45 million to address the crisis in Oregon’s health care workforce. David also voted to protect health coverage for low-income Oregonians and to invest $150 million to support behavioral health workers and providers to create a healthier Oregon for everyone.
Veterans
As budget committee co-chair, David reversed Governor Kate Brown’s proposal to cut funding for Veteran Services and oversaw the implementation of voter-approved investments in housing, job counseling and health care services for veterans.
Seniors
Rep. Gomberg serves on the Governor’s Commission of Senior Services and has fought to fully fund Project Independence and keep retirees living independently in their homes, introduced legislation to reduce property taxes on retirees, worked to expand assisted living opportunities, and expanded property tax deferrals.
Economic Recovery
In the last year, Rep. Gomberg supported expanding broadband, increased access to loans for small businesses from $100,000 to $1 million, and supported over $200 million in investments in career training and programs to retain and attract workers. He will continue spearheading policies that help working families and small businesses on the Coast and Coastal Range thrive.
Wildfires
District 10 understands the threat of fire season, and David knows firsthand that we need to be prepared for emergencies before they happen. He supported firefighters and first responders by voting to invest $500 million in wildfire recovery and prevention, and sponsored bills that hold insurance companies accountable and make it easier for homeowners to rebuild after fires.
